Here's why you need this. If Amendment 3 passes, homestead homeowners $50,000 homestead exemption jumps up to $150,000 on January 1st 2027. And on January 1st 2028, it jumps up to $250,000. For a lot of Florida homeowners that means going from paying $2,800 a year in nonschool property taxes down to zero. That's a real number, not a promise. But the people who don't want this to pass are telling you it'll defund the police, reset their home's value to full market price, or strip disabled veterans of their exemption. None of that is true, and the fact sheet shows you exactly why, straight from the bill itself.
