DeSantis is warning Florida homeowners that their property taxes are about to skyrocket, and this time he's not holding anything back. If Amendment 3 fails in November, he says flat out that you're not getting another shot.

Property tax collections in Florida jumped from $30 billion in 2019 to $60 billion this year. If Amendment 3 fails, DeSantis says they're on track to hit $84 billion by 2031. That's a 40% increase statewide. Amendment 3 raises your homestead exemption from $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027, then to $250,000 in 2028. For about 60% of Florida homeowners, that wipes out the non-school part of the bill completely.

Cities and counties aren't defending their budgets. They're scaring you. It's the same play Washington ran when the Trump administration went after USAID, the agency that sent $15 million worth of condoms to the Taliban and $2 million to LGBTQ activism in Guatemala. I’m not making that up! Nobody was defending the spending. Instead, they tried to convince you that kids would starve to death in Africa if we didn’t keep wasting this money. And since Elon Musk was leading the charge to cut spending. Tesla dealerships got hit in over 200 cities. The far left burned and keyed as many Teslas as they could. Here in Florida, local politicians are saying if you vote for a property tax cut, police and fire are gonna disappear overnight. Meanwhile CFO Blaise Ingoglia's FAFO team has caught local governments spending $3.8 billion on nonprofits, consultants and programs that have nothing to do with running a city.

Now that play has made it into the governor's race. Democratic nominee David Jolly is against Amendment 3 and calls it a crisis waiting to happen. The Florida Democratic Party voted to formally oppose it too. They'll step up all day for a bloated city budget, but not for the homeowners losing their houses because they couldn't keep up. And if the county can take your house for not paying property taxes, you don't really own it. You're renting it from the government.

Republican nominee Byron Donalds is all in on cutting your property taxes, and he's got a backup plan. Florida's Tax and Budget Reform Commission only meets once every 20 years, and it convenes again in 2027. Pass or fail, Byron says he'll use it to review every tax and fee the state collects. It's a great idea, but it's a backup plan, not a replacement for winning this vote.

👉🏼 DeSantis originally wanted to get rid of homestead property taxes completely. The Legislature cut that down to Amendment 3 and dropped his promise to cover lost revenue for Florida's 29 rural, fiscally constrained counties. Byron just brought that promise back, which kills the idea that counties are going to go broke. Then he went after the other scare tactic, the one about cutting cops. He said he’s gonna make sure that doesn’t happen. Don't be surprised if more sheriffs start coming out in support.

Every level of government, from Washington down to your county commission, runs the same play the second somebody tries to touch its spending. The only thing that has ever beaten it is enough people showing up and not falling for it. Vote yes on Amendment 3 in November and put your money back where it belongs, in your pocket.
