Florida voted yesterday and DeSantis walked away with a clean sweep. Every amendment he took a side on and every candidate he backed for the top four seats won. Here's everything that happened, and who won where you live.
Amendment 3 passed with 62% of the vote, just 2 points over the 60% it needed. Your homestead exemption on non-school property taxes jumps from $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027, then $250,000 in 2028. The yearly assessment cap on non-homestead property gets cut in half, from 10% to 5%. Cities and counties spent months telling you the cops would disappear. Voters didn't buy it. DeSantis posted "Big win on Amendment 3 for Florida homeowners!" the same night.
Amendment 1 went down hard with only 41%. That's the rainy day fund grab the Florida Republican Party endorsed and DeSantis called foolish. Amendment 2, the farm equipment tax break, got 58% and fell just short.
Byron Donalds and running mate Bryan Avila won the governor's race, beating David Jolly 50% to 48.7%. Donalds is taking over the state DeSantis built.
Ashley Moody held onto Marco Rubio's old Senate seat, beating Angie Nixon 50.8% to about 48%. Nixon ran on a national rent freeze, a billionaire wealth tax, and abolishing ICE, and she's already hinting at another run in 2028.
DeSantis's team swept the Cabinet too. Attorney General James Uthmeier, CFO Blaise Ingoglia, and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson all won.
But the biggest story out of last night isn't who won Florida. It's what comes next for DeSantis. 👇🏼

👉🏼 Last night was a huge win for Ron DeSantis. When he took office in 2019, Democrats outnumbered Republicans in Florida. Today Republicans lead by more than 1.5 million registered voters, and they just swept every statewide race on the ballot. DeSantis did that. He turned the biggest swing state in the country into a deep red state, and the whole country just watched it happen. I'm calling it right now. DeSantis runs for president in 2028, and he'll be our next president. Last night sealed the deal.
Here's who's representing you in Congress, district by district. Four races are still too close to call. If the current leaders hold, Republicans keep 20 of Florida's 28 seats.

District 3: Kat Cammack (R)
District 4: Aaron Bean (R)

Voters also fired three sitting mayors last night. Here's who's running your city:
St. Petersburg: Charlie Crist beat incumbent Ken Welch
Tallahassee: Jeremy Matlow beat Loranne Ausley
Port St. Lucie: Steven Giordano beat incumbent Shannon Martin
Fort Myers: Amber Ware beat incumbent Kevin Anderson
Cape Coral: Rick Erickson beat Lisa Cohen-Adkinson
Coral Springs: Scott Brook reelected over Joshua Simmons
Davie: Judy Paul reelected over Jackie Rocha
Deltona: Maritza Vazquez beat Jason Voelz
Orange County: Tiffany Moore Russell beat Chris Messina
Amendment 3 was never the finish line. DeSantis wanted homestead property taxes gone completely, and Byron says that, pass or fail, he's bringing that fight back next year through the 2027 Tax and Budget Reform Commission. Now the real fight starts… making sure your city doesn't find a back door to steal that money right back.
