Big companies hedge their risks. Now your business can too.
For US farm, ranch and small business owners.
Airlines hedge fuel. Food companies hedge crops. For decades, protecting a business from outcomes it can't control took a broker, a trading desk and an order size most owners never had.
Kalshi opens hedging up to small businesses. Pick the outcome that would hurt you, like a fuel spike, a heat wave, a new tariff or a rate hike, and take a position on it, starting at a few dollars. If it happens, the payout offsets the hit. If it doesn't, the contract expires and the good month was the point.
A California goat herder and a Maryland tea company already do it, and CNBC, Reuters and The New York Times have covered businesses hedging on Kalshi.
Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange.
Kissimmee Mayor Jackie Espinosa pushed hard for a small business grant program paid for with leftover federal COVID money. On the very first day applications opened, three came from businesses she and her family owned or controlled. A dance studio, a diner, and a real estate company. A city employee flagged it. Her boss approved all three anyway. That's $50,000.
The city attorney told her to give it back. So did the city manager. She kept every dime. The state ethics commission fined her $2,000.
Then Florida CFO Blaise Ingoglia came knocking. His team teamed up with FDLE and found four more businesses renting space in her family's buildings got grants too, bringing the total to $90,000. On October 21st, officers stopped her on a residential street and booked her into the Osceola County Jail. She's charged with grand theft and organized scheme to defraud and could face up to 30 years in prison. And she's still the mayor. Ingoglia said, “Public service should never be self-service, and Jackie Espinosa will now have to answer for taking from the taxpayers.”
Over in Miami-Dade, School Board vice chair Lubby Navarro ran up more than $100,000 on her district credit card, stocking her boyfriend's smoothie shop with a commercial fridge, a wine cooler and espresso machines. Then she used school money to buy two silicone fake pregnancy bellies off Amazon to convince him she was pregnant. Nobody caught it while she was in office, because board members check their own credit card statements. Come on… really? She got 14 months in prison.
Former Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is accused of taking a $5 million FEMA overpayment to her family's company and running a big chunk of it into her own campaign for Congress. She resigned minutes before a hearing on kicking her out, and she's facing up to 53 years.
And it's not just Florida. In Virginia, 82-year-old state Senator Louise Lucas was arrested along with her two daughters and grandson. The feds say it was a 5-year marijuana enterprise worth nearly $5 million, and the FBI had her on a wiretap saying, “this is our last chance at generational wealth . . . I've got too old to not be greedy.”
The GAO estimates Washington loses between $233 billion and $521 billion a year to fraud. Thats our tax money being stolen!! That doesn't even count your city and county, where until Ingoglia showed up, almost nobody was looking.
That's where Amendment 3 comes in. Your homestead exemption jumps from $50,000 to $150,000 on January 1st, 2027, then to $250,000 in 2028, and whatever property tax money's left has to go to police, fire, roads and schools. If it fails, Florida property tax collections are on pace to go from about $60 billion to $84 billion by 2031. That's a 40% raise for these crooks to play with.

Corruption grows wherever there's easy money and nobody's watching. Every person in this story got caught because somebody finally looked. You can't audit city hall yourself, but you can decide how much of your money they get to play with. Vote yes on Amendment 3 and put your money back where it belongs, in your pocket.
