No Tolls for Floridians
Visitors pay, you don’t
This week, Governor Ron DeSantis floated an idea that would save Florida residents hundreds of dollars a year. Stop charging us tolls and shift the cost to non-residents. Florida has more than 700 miles of toll roads, and most of us use them constantly. DeSantis basically asked the obvious question: these roads have been around forever, so why are locals still paying every single day when millions of visitors use them too?
This wouldn’t be the first time he’s done something like this. Back in 2023, Florida gave residents 50% off tolls once they hit 35 trips in a month. That program saved drivers about $400 each, even though it cost the state roughly $500 million. Now he’s talking about going further — a 100% discount for Floridians, with visitors covering the bill instead. Same roads, same traffic, but locals finally get a break.
And this is exactly why I love DeSantis. He doesn’t wait for people to beg him to act. He shows up with actual cost-saving ideas on his own. In most states, residents have to fight their governor just to get noticed. In Florida, we’re talking about cutting everyday expenses that hit families month after month.
Pair this with his big push to eliminate property taxes on homestead homes, and it’s clear what the goal is. Make Florida cheaper to live in, not harder. No tolls for residents. No permanent tax on simply owning your home. That’s how you keep a state strong, attract people who want to build a life here, and reward the Floridians already doing it.
We’ve got the best governor and the best state in the union, and ideas like this are exactly why.

P.S. DeSantis isn’t stopping there. I’ve got a new video dropping Saturday at 3pm EST breaking down how he’s taking on Washington D.C. to push term limits and a balanced budget on Congress…and it’s actually working.
